The entire collection from St. Cecilia’s midnight and Christmas morning masses was stolen from the parish’s safe, it was discovered over the weekend. The amount of the funds is not known, as the collections had not yet been counted. Fr. Theodore Parker, pastor of St. Cecilia, said there was no evidence of a break-in at the parish. A police report was filed Sunday and the staff at St. Cecilia is cooperating with authorities.

St. Cecilia was founded in 1921 and is known for its community outreach. The parish is situated at Livernois Avenue and Sterns Street in Detroit. It has a grade school and the well-known Ceciliaville Athletic Center which provides sports leagues for city youths in a safe, drug-free environment.
